You need to be seventeen years old and have a provisional licence to begin driving lessons; to get this fill in a D1 form from the Post Office and send it to the DVLA with your passport or birth certificate and a passport sized photo. You can also apply online at:

In 2006 the Driving Standards Agency estimated an average of forty-five hours of tuition plus an extra twenty-two hours of private practice is needed to pass your test, but remember people learn at different paces. Our two hour lessons and driving assistance will help you learn faster.
Some interesting things to know are that the driving test was introduced in England in 1935 and it cost 37.5p and the pass rate was 63%. There were no driving tests during World War II or during the Suez Crisis.
• April 1991 - introduction of the reverse parking manoeuvre to the test
• July 1996 - theory test was introduced
• November 2002 - theory test was expanded and hazard perception was included
• September 2003 - show me tell me vehicle safety questions were added at the beginning of the practical test
• September 2007 - theory test was expanded from 35 questions to 50
